0_coyote_trail_map.gif[p3] Coyote point bay trail (San Mateo, CA)

Coyote Point park is part of San Mateo park system. This trail is part of The bay trail goes along the San Francisco bay.   Even though the trail exists north of Coyote point, the nicer / wider section lies south of Coyote point.  That is the section I'd recommend.

The tail is paved and in very good condition. Bikers/joggers traffic is moderate.

The current trail goes upto Redwood Shores.  Then it continues as a non-paved dirt trail.  There are plans to expand the trail to connect with South Bay trail.

Along the trail, you will see people surfing with colorful kites (if it is windy, not so good for you!), views of San Francisco city, Oakland city and San Mateo bridge.  Also towards Redwood Shores there is a protected marshland that is good place for bird watching.

Only negative aspect about this trail is there is strong winds (15 mph ++ !!) that can discourage long rides!
